Buckminster Fuller… Wow. This dude was WAY ahead of his time. I remember, as a kid, reading a little about him, but it’s only recently that some of his more “radical” (at the time) ideas seem plausible. Solar and wind power, inventing his own words, the architect and originator of the geodesic dome. Anyway, he said a lot of cool things, but this one’s my favorite, and I’m going to make a poster of it and put it above the place where I write.
“When I am working on a problem I never think about beauty. I only think about how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.”
After all, what is fiction if not a problem and solution elegantly told?
