Because writing, if you’re serious about it and want to sell what you’re doing to the outside world, is like being at fucking mission control sometimes. Write story, send story, then wait for between 3 months and a year to receive a return signal from the publisher’s mining colony. Rinse and repeat.
I think the person that perfects cryogenics will be an impatient spec-fic author, just so they can snooze between boughts of transmissions and stop checking their damn email.
And yes, not having sent anything out for a three month period last year and living through the rejection/sale dry spell right now is no fun. No fun at all. 🙂
